With recent monsoonal activity, EAGLESNESTLAKE has picked up. Fishing off the bank is slow, but fishing out of the boats is getting better. Yellow perch are hitting black wooly boogers. Larger trout are taking elk-haired caddis off the top with prince nymphs down below. The pike fishing is really good. Use big flashy flies and red/white is a great color.
The RIOCOSTILLA in the VALLEVIDAL is running at about 44 cfs and semi-clear. Rising caddis in the AM and stone flies in the PM. San Juan worms are also working well.
The CIMARRON is running at 9.7 cfs, so keep a low profile when approaching fish.
The HOLYWATER on the CIMARRON has been producing larger browns and bows during the morning trico hatch.
The LOSPINOS has been really nice. Great scenery, great fish, and quality water is where it’s at.
The REDRIVER has risen significantly due to recent rains and is running at 122 cfs. You can try a red San Juan worm and a 20-incher with a strike indicator.
The CULEBRACREEK is still red hot for really big fish. Try Rick’s Zudbug.
