Located at the uppermost end of the immense San Luis Valley near Villa Grove, Colorado, this is a splendid, small spring creek loaded with 8 to 12 inch fat, scrappy browns and some up to 16 inches. The back-drop of the magnificent Sangre de Cristo Mountains soaring to over 14,000 feet in elevation is unparalleled. For over five miles the little creek winds through vast, lush, green meadows. A small pond on the property adds to the experience providing the opportunity to catch decent-size rainbows and the occasional brown. Lodging is available at nearby Villa Grove (B&B), at Valley View Mineral Springs (camping, Cabins), at Joyful Journey Hot Springs (Teepee or Yurt) or 18 to 25 miles away in Poncha Springs or Salida, CO where there are a variety of accommodations and restaurants. Combine with a day on the Culebra and a day on the Trinchera Ranch or a day on our trophy trout and trophy pike lakes.
