Fishing Forecast for July 2013 standard

by Van Beacham Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado Finally Getting Rain!! The high flows the last 2 weeks produced some great fishing and some nice fish but it was tough for some people. Well, now the flows are down and it’s much easier to wade and the dry fly fishing is  better but the fish are a little spooky. Low flows and warmer than usual temperatures have made fishing a little tough on some streams while others like the Rio Grande, Red River and the streams on Trinchera Ranch have been fantastic! by Van Beacham Spring Has Sprung and the Bugs are Hatchin’ It’s the end of ski season, the days are getting longer and the first sign of bugs, other than midges, are ever present. Blue-winged olives (BWO’s) and their smaller counter parts, baetis have already begun to hatch on warm days on the Rio Grande and Red River and yesterday I actually saw a few caddis on the Red River. Fishing Report: February 2013 standard

by Van Beacham We had the longest, warmest fall fishing season on record and the browns successfully spawned clear into late December on the Rio Grande and its tributaries, ensuring good recruitment of juvenile browns again this year.
